Today's Devotion

Healing Begins!

"And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. ~James 5:15,16"

As I was driving to work this morning I heard a little clip about the new 10th Avenue North song, This is Where the Healing begins and they referred to a verse in James...I'm actually not sure if I got the right one that they referenced but I think this verse is powerful in illustrating the point God has laid on my heart this morning.

Life can be so challenging sometimes, whether it is a sleepless night with a toddler, conflict with a loved one, quarell with a spouse, deadlines at work, and just the day to day struggles that we all have in our lives. And I know sometimes I slip and sin, whether it be saying a bad word, snapping at my children and husband, or ignoring deadlines at work. I always feel guilty and unworthy of God's love in those moments of human error. Lately I've been really struggling with how I respond to my children, I just get very snappy with them over really nothing, and I always feel like a horrible mom, like I'm a fake---I put on this facade that I'm the perfect mom and behind close doors I feel like I'm about to loose my patience, and sanity. This morning I'm being convicted to confess my sins of not being the best mom I can be to my children. I'll continue to pray for patience and self control. Even though we all have our moments that we'd rather hit the delete button and erase from everyone's memory, God has already forgiven us if we only confess. As I've said before God loved us so much, and knew we would sin, that he gave his only son's life for those sins. Isn't that an amazing fact to ponder this morning? So yes this morning the healing begins by simply confessing and praying to our Awesome God. Whatever you are facing today, whatever sin you've committed know that your healing can begin because the price of our sins have already been paid.

Here is the song:

So you thought you had to keep this up

All the work that you do

So we think that you're good

And you can't believe it's not enough

All the walls you built up

Are just glass on the outside

So let 'em fall down

There's freedom waiting in the sound

When you let your walls fall to the ground

We're here now

This is where the healing begins, oh

This is where the healing starts

When you come to where you're broken within

The light meets the dark

The light meets the dark

Afraid to let your secrets out

Everything that you hide

Can come crashing through the door now

But too scared to face all your fear

So you hide but you find

That the shame won't disappear

So let it fall down

There's freedom waiting in the sound

When you let your walls fall to the ground

We're here now

We're here now, oh

This is where the healing begins, oh

This is where the healing starts

When you come to where you're broken within

The light meets the dark

The light meets the dark

Sparks will fly as grace collides

With the dark inside of us

So please don't fight

This coming light

Let this blood come cover us

His blood can cover us

This is where the healing begins, oh

This is where the healing starts

When you come to where you're broken within

The light meets the dark

The light meets the dark

In God's Love,

Sarah
