Friday's Devotion

Loving one another

Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God~1 John 4:7

I did not have enough time to read my bible this morning so am taking this verse from the boys' devotion today, but I think its pretty applicable to us adults. We need to love one another no matter the circumstances because as humans we need that connection, support, and encouragement. And as Christians we should strive to live like God who loves us so much he gave his only son for our sins so the least we can do is love the people around us. This past week has been a bit trying, challenging and stressful for me; nothing major just the normal single parent through the week stuff. And by last night I was almost in tears, but thanks to a new friend I was able utilize the entire VBS time, about 2 hours just visiting, listening and supporting one another while Aiden learned about the Bible and Evan played with her son. It was such a blessing, and I'm so thankful I have this friend in my life. This morning I was frustrated because Aiden woke up early and I didnt get the me time after my run that I was planning on (since the little burger didnt go to sleep until after 10), but he woke up so happy and just wanted mommy to read him books, and snuggle with me. Still a little frustrated and exhausted from parening 2 children, working, planning meetings, attending VBS, ect I took the boys to open gym with the hopes of a good nap (which they crashed minutes after hitting their pillow) and to again vent, talk, and find support from my friends. And again I felt blessed by the friendships in my life, and had a wonderful time visiting with several friends, and had a great lunch visit with one of my best friends which because of life we'd been a bit disconnected lately, but we both need each other and value our friendship and so glad we could have such a great visit today. So I guess what I'm saying is life is too short to hold grudges, hate, and be intolerant whether it be towards friends, children, spouses, or other family members, as humans its difficult but let us strive to love each other has God has loved us. Ironically as I was running this morning, before reading the boys' devotion to them I heard this song which fits perfectly we do all need one another. Here are the lyrics.

We need each other by Sanctus Real

I think I caught a glimpse of

Life without friends

Bitter, empty, hollow, dark and lonely

We never meant to hurt each other

So Can’t we trust again

And take it as a chance

To keep on growing

I don’t know why it doesn’t come easy

But I know that we could be happy

If we’d only learn to love

Oh oh we need each other

So what’s the fighting for

Oh oh we need each other

Please don’t close the door

Oh oh we need each other

Through all the highs and lows

Oh oh we need each other

Cuz no one’s meant to live alone

Life revolves around the need

Of having someone

Causing every complicated feeling

Oh and I don’t want to loose you

And there is nothing wrong with

Telling me what you need

To keep our love strong

It’s just a part of being a family

Taking the good with the bad and the ugly

If we could only learn to love

Oh oh we need each other

So what’s the fighting for

Oh oh we need each other

Please don’t close the door

Oh oh we need each other

Through all the highs and lows

Oh oh we need each other

Cuz I don’t want to be alone

Oh Oh we need each other

Fathers and Mothers

Oh oh we need each other

All your sisters and brothers

Oh oh we need each other

We need friends and lovers

Oh Oh we need each other

Well I need you

You need me

Cuz that’s the way

It’s meant to be

I need you

We need each other

(I don’t want to be alone)

(x2)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, I'll be back with devotions on Monday morning.

In God's Love,

Sarah
